Do I need NIE to register on the padrón?
No. Article 16 LBRL recognises the padrón as a universal right. The town hall cannot demand NIE. A valid passport and property title or owner authorization is enough.
Can I register without legal papers?
Yes. The padrón does not certify legal status, but cannot be denied because of missing NIE. The Spanish Ombudsman confirmed this in 2019, 2021 and 2023 reports. If denied, it is appealable.
How long does it take in Madrid?
Today (2026) between 2 and 9 months to get an appointment, depending on district. Centro, Tetuán, Carabanchel and Usera are the most overloaded. Our legal bot monitors slots 24/7.
Is your bot legal? Is it like the black market?
It is legal. It only checks public availability with reasonable requests, does not book without consent, does not resell appointments and respects the town hall rate-limit. The appointment is always under your real name and details.
Do I have to renew every two years?
Yes, if you are a non-EU foreigner without permanent residence. If you do not renew you are removed by expiry and lose the arraigo count. Our Familia 4+ plan includes automatic reminders 120, 60 and 30 days before expiry.
Does the padrón count for arraigo?
Yes. It is the main proof. Social arraigo requires 2 years of continuous padrón. Any improper removal breaks the count and denies the application. If you have been in Spain for a while, secure your padrón before starting anything.
